Responsible profit taking is honorable. Those who are legitimate producers deserve to be rewarded for their earnest contributions. It is when profit taking replaces concern for others or for ecosystems that a perversity occurs whereby everyone and everything suffers. At that point, we are not evolving but devolving...

The violent breach of the Capitol was a culmination of communication between President Trump and his most fanatical supporters, says linguistic anthropologist

We all have various and sometimes numerous reasons to complain. We complain about our job, our health, the weather, our neighbors, our kids, our families, our government, the environment, the state of the world… As you can see, if you want to complain there is no lack of things to complain about.

The events that occurred in the United States on September 11, 2001, have made it desperately obvious that our world must be changed, or soon there may be no world to change at all. I am reminded here of the wonderful soul-searching inquiry of the Jewish tradition: If not now, when? If not me, who?

Well, the US presidential election is now behind us and it's time to take stock. We must find common ground between young and old, Democrat and Republican, Liberal and Conservative to truly make America great again...

From an early age, my parents helped me to look at problems in the world not as monsters to fear but as opportunities for healing. I learned that there aren't really any monsters, just people who have been hurt and then take their hurt out on others. 'However bad things are,' my mom used to tell me, 'is exactly how much better they can be with a change.'

Shortly after Abraham Lincoln was elected on Nov. 6, 1860, a woman from Alabama, Sarah Espy, documented her concerns in her diary.

As the US presidential election polling day draws close, it’s worth recapping what we know about how Facebook has been used to influence election results.

Today, in October 2020, the horrific situation in the US is breaking my heart... the divisiveness, the lack of basic respect and common decency, the breakdown of basic democratic principles and institutions... all of which is making almost any kind of civilized political debate impossible... well it just breaks my heart.

To summarize, we are at a crossroads. There is the old-world perspective of feudalism—rule by a king in cahoots with a religious oligarchy. Following this perspective ends up in a dictatorship supported by a plutocracy and oligarchy.

It is my deep conviction that any meaningful religious or spiritual approach must also really address the key issue of today – and that is a world that works for all. Disparities and inequalities in income and opportunities are become so huge, environmental degradation is advancing so rapidly, that unless we create a world that works for ALL (and this includes the environment)...

When Donald Trump was elected President of the United States in 2016, every politically aware progressive American came to understand that there was a crisis in American politics like never before. But if you are a student of history or if you cared deeply for progressivity in your country, you could have predicted this crisis three decades ago,...

The 2020 US presidential election campaign is moving quickly and the news media are valiantly struggling to keep abreast of what’s happening.

Janis Joplin died 50 years ago on October 4, 1970, aged just 27, but her songs reach beyond time. Her enduring influence and popularity can be attributed to her raw, unadulterated, fearless performances.

Trump’s election campaign wanted to deter millions of Black Americans from voting in 2016. The ‘Deterrence’ project can be revealed after Channel 4 News obtained the database used by Trump's digital campaign team.

Have you registered to vote? Have you voted? If you are not going to vote, you will be part of the problem.

Democrats need to understand the real Republican plan of why this is happening and have a plan of our own beyond just voting.

In 2016, Russia managed to penetrate systems in several states but there’s no evidence that they “pulled the trigger” to take advantage of their penetration.

Regardless of content, context, or audience, political ads do little to persuade voters, according to a new study.
There she grows now, so tall, the tallest woman you have ever seen. Green goddess in the harbor, bearing light and knowledge. Her grotto is the open sky, the water is her shrine, appearing to the faithful with dignity divine. Grave and peaceful, calm and holy, she stands at the nation’s door.

If we were able to remember how we felt as a child learning to crawl, we probably would remember looking on with amazement at the giants we saw around us. This memory might help us when we are learning a technical skill, or a behavioral skill such as unconditional love, patience...

We are in the midst of an extraordinary upsurge of interest in the realm of the Spirit. Tens of millions of people in advanced industrial societies live at a level of material well-being that far surpasses the luxuries and comforts available to kings, queens, and nobles just a few hundred years ago. But many of these are in the vanguard of those who seek a new spiritual reality.

Amidst all the horrors taking place these days, I am inspired by the rays of hope that shine through. Ordinary people standing up for what is right (and against what is wrong). Baseball players, white and black, both teams, walking off the field in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. And today, I came across the video of the Seattle Seahawks' head coach Pete Carroll...
